Plugins.
Installing Plugins.
The method of installing plugins may seem a little complicated at first but all you really need to do it open two folder and copy from one to the other.
Firstly you will need to download the plugin you are interested in. Please only do this from the thread in the forum on the getpaint.net web site (links at the
end of this section).
Next you will need to find where the zip folder has been downloaded to and double click on it to open it.
Next you need to open another folder. This time Open your “C Drive” then double click on “Program Files, then “paint4net” and finally the “Effects” folder.
Finally, now you have two folders open, you simply want to copy the contents of the zip fold and place then into the Effects folder. (or you can drag them from one folder to the other).
Below are some links where you can get plugins, they are all on the getpaint.net forum. Although you will also find links in other places we recommend you ONLY install plugins from getpaint.net and only from the forum (not via adverts which may appear on that site or any other site).
N.B. Please remember that not all plugins work with each version of Paint.net. Sometimes the writeup on a plugin will tell you this, other times the first you know is when you try and use it and the program crashes. So please make sure you save your work before you use a plugin.

Using Plugins.
We shan’t go into depth about each plugin as they all work in different ways. Once install you should find them either under “Effects” in the main menu or, in a few cases, under adjustments. Our best advice is just have a play with them. Many will show you “live” how the image will look once the effect has been applied. Others will only show you after you have hit the “OK” button, but don’t worry, if you don’t like it you can always use the undo (Edit Undo).
Plugins certainly add a huge number of possibilities to paint.net and some of the techniques we cover in this course would be impossible without them.
We hop you have enjoyed this lesson on Rotation Resizing and Plugins. This information will stay up on the website so don’t don’t worry if you need to go through it several times. Rotation Resizing and Plugins all play very important rolls when working with images.
